GENERAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

The event is an excellent opportunity for the photographers who want to show their work in an unique context. We accept series of images accompanied by audio files or multimedia files. Follow the instructions here and send your work to Slideluck London, ON.

– Slideluck shows generally consist of 20-25 artists, with each artist featuring up to five minutes of original work.

– In most cases, this is a slideshow of between 15 to 40 images. We recommend 20 – 30 images.

– Every image must be at least 1024×768 pixels. We strongly recommend that you submit images that are 1080 pixels in height for maintaining the highest standards of quality. The width will be determined by the aspect ratio of your images.

– Every slideshow is set to music or an audio recording that the artist has selected. You will need to upload a music file during the submissions process. On average, each slideshow image will be projected for four seconds, so check that your audio track is longer than that time period multiplied by the number of submission slides (for example, a slideshow containing 30 slides would last approximately 120 seconds or two minutes – four times thirty equals 120). In some instances, the audio requirement may be waived or altered on specific calls for specific events. Please double check the details of the call! For copyright purposes, all audio included in submissions must be open-sourced.  You can search for open-sourced music through resources such as the Free Music Archive or Creative Commons. Submissions containing copyrighted music may be subject to change by the Slideluck Team. Please contact us at submissions@slideluck.com with direct questions.

– We generally accept all types of submissions, as long as the work can be represented fairly in a slideshow format. Please adhere to the individual theme or other requirements detailed in the individual call for entries from the particular city and event you are submitting to. Details about all our open calls can be found HERE.

– Along with your images, you will need to supply three additional slides- one with your name and the title of the project (if applicable), a music credit slide, and a slide with your contact info or representation.

– Pre-produced multimedia submissions are also welcome, as long as they fit within our guidelines and format.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS (DEADLINE: August 7th, 2017)

WHEN PHOTOBOOKS MAKE LOVE WITH MULTIMEDIA - Mark II

For the screening, Slideluck Gazebook is welcoming photographic bodies of work and multimedia submissions that suit “When Photobooks make love with Multimedia”.

The challenge of Slideluck Gazebook will be to find a connection between photobooks and multimedia through your creativity as movie director: disassemble your photobook and let’s see how your images and text can dance on the rhythm of the right soundtrack!

Moreover, if you have a body of work that fits the main theme of Gazebook 2017 festival, you’ll have more chances to get selected. In fact, 8 out of 16 artists will be chosen according to this theme: “Winners write history. They have the power, they rule, they are ever more violating any kind of civil right. It’s time to think how photographers and visual artists could react in order to question if images and photo-essays might still influence our society as tool of resistance. That’s the time to start an active, political, shared conversation, although avoiding any propaganda aim”.

//

For this edition of Slideluck Gazebook we are mainly looking for multimedia that are inspired from any kind of photobook: published, dummy, zine, self-published, hand-made, on-demand, even your journal or sketchbook! Include the info of your “photobook” at the start/end of the multimedia to promote it to the line-up of Gazebook that will attend the show.

However, even if you don’t have any kind of photobook yet, but you would like to make one, then you are still welcome to join the call. Try to create your ideal photobook into a multi-narrative video to impress our panel guest: “Fuck! This might be a great photobook!”.

Remember that we are not looking for slow, boring, pages-browsing videos or just flat slideshows! Use instead the potentiality of multimedia and his languages to transform your project from photobook to multimedia, from bookbinding to video/clip-binding, creating a sort of trailer!

Slideluck Gazebook is not only an important chance to show your photobook to the jury during the call. In fact, the 16 finalists will be screened in front of the important Gazebook guest panel and the whole audience present during the screening night at the Sicily Photobook Festival.

The GUEST PANEL is composed by professionals that work in the photobook market with different roles useful for your project, such as Jason Fulford (Photographer and publisher J&L Books), Moises Saman (Photographer MAGNUM Photos), Colin Pantall (Teacher, Writer, Photographer), Daria Birang (Artist, Editor and Curator), Valentina Abenavoli and Alex Bocchetto (Publishers, Akina Books), Vasantha Yogananthan (Photographer and publisher Chose Commune), Alejandro Acin (Creative Director Photobook Bristol; Founder and Director IC Visual Lab; Designer and Editor ICVL Studio), Natasha Christia (Teacher and Curator), Maria Teresa Salvati (Teacher and Founder Slideluck Editorial), Federica Chiocchetti (curator, writer and founder Photocaptionist), Marco Paltrinieri (Co-Founder Discipula), and other more to be confirmed!

This is an opportunity for photographers to have their work/photobooks screened and promoted in a unique environment in front of an important panel guest!

Submissions will be accepted until the 7th of August, 2017.
